Knowing the Lord

When we talk about knowing the Lord, we are saying that we have a personal relationship with Him. It means that He knows that we have surrendered our lives to Him, and He has entered into a relationship with us where we talk with Him, and He talks with us. That is God's desire for every person who is ever born into this world. He made each for that purpose so He could shower His love on us.

Isaiah foretold a time when the people of Egypt would come to know the Lord. Right now about 10% of the people are Christians, but one day there will be more. (Isaiah 19:21) He told us that the Lord will be known in Egypt, and the Egyptians will know the Lord in that day. They will make sacrifice and offering to the Lord, as well as, making vows to the Lord and performing them. They will have a relationship with the Lord, not just religion.

So, the question for all of us today is, "Do you know the Lord?" This goes far beyond being a church member or going to a building for services and Bible studies. I am talking about you and the Lord. How are y'all doing? What has your conversation with Him been like today? I pray that we all have been conversing with the Lord, not just saying prayers. We need to talk with Him and listen for His response.

When we know the Lord, and we have that type of active relationship with Him, we can share Him with other people, as we would share about any other friend we have in our lives. We will be able to confidently let others know what He has told us to do, as we have read His Word and prayed. We can point to times when we were very close to Him, and confess times when we have drifted away. However, the most important thing in life is to make sure we know the Lord.
