Mediums and Wizards

 It seems like some things become popular for a while, and then they fall out of favor for a while. I have seen several times in my lifetime when the occult practices have gained popularity among a large percentage of the people. I heard last week that this is happening in various ways in our teens and younger adults now. This is very dangerous and has many negative implications for us to consider.

The Bible is really clear about what we should do when it comes to these things. (Isaiah 8:19) When people tell us to seek mediums and wizards, who whisper and mutter, shouldn't we seek God, instead? Should we seek the dead on behalf of the living? That doesn't make any sense does it? However, that is what people are doing. We need to point others in the right direction.

A medium is a person who claims to be able to contact the dead. They have seances and use cards and other objects to get a message from a dead person to guide someone who is alive. This cannot ever happen. Once a person has died, God doesn't allow them to have contact with people in this world. Even if he did, they would not have any special knowledge that could help the living person out. Only God has that understanding and wisdom, so we need to call on Him instead.

Also, a wizard is one who casts spells like a witch. The only power a wizard would have could only come from Satan and his demons. Why would any sane person want direction from the ones who want to steal, kill, and destroy? Again, it makes no sense, at all. We need to point people to the light, not the darkness. We need to show them the truth from God's Word and convince them of the power of prayer to direct them in the right way.
