God's Compassionate Anger

Most people have a very inaccurate view of God. Some people think that He is an angry God who loves to punish people, and that is what He does most of the time. Others think that since God is love that He never gets angry, and He never punishes anyone. He just accepts everyone the way they are. Both of these views are very wrong.

The Bible is clear that God punishes those who sin. However, Isaiah gave us the proper way to look at God's anger. (Isaiah 10:4) He told the people that if they tried to live without Him they would bow down among the prisoners, and they would fall among the slain. However, even though He was pouring out His anger against sin, His hand was stretched out still. God was willing to halt the punishment, if they would just repent and turn to Him. That is the nature of God to have compassionate anger against sin.

Please, do not think that you will ever be able to escape God's anger toward sin. He is holy. He hates sin, and He must punish it, or He would not be holy any more. God doesn't like to have to harm people or kill people, but He has to do that when people will not listen to His calls, and will not respond to His punishment. Please, decide to stop your sinning before God has to turn up the heat on you.

Know that no matter what you have been through in your life, God's hand is stretched out to you still. He is waiting, like the father of the prodigal son. He will run to meet you, if you will only turn from your sin and return to Him in humble submission and faith. Then, He will be able to bless you instead of having to pour out His anger on you. Believe me, He wants to bless you and give you an abundant life in Jesus.
