God's Responsiveness to Us
It is always frustrating to be trying to get through to someone, but not getting any response from them. We wonder if they did not hear our message or if they are just not interested in getting back with us. When it comes to talking with God, it can be hard for us when an answer doesn't come quickly. We sometimes wonder if He doesn't care about us. That is not the case, but there are other factors to consider.
Daniel was very faithful to the Lord, and He was a very prayerful person. One time when Daniel asked God a specific question, God sent an angel to give him the answer. (Daniel 10:12) The angel told him not to be afraid, because from the day he had set his heart on understanding this thing and on humbling himself before his God, his words were heard, and the angel was sent in response to his prayer. Let's look at the factors affecting God's response.
When we pray, it must come from our heart. God must see that we have set our heart on getting understanding about an issue or getting His reply to our request. God doesn't respond to double-minded people, but to those focused on Him.
Also, God responds to us when we humble ourselves before Him. We can't demand an answer from God. After all, He is Lord. We are His servants. He can answer when and how He wants to answer, but He responds to a humble request seeking His help. When God sees these things, He is often quick to respond to us, even right when we start our prayer, like He did for Daniel.
