Rescued from Lying Lips

Lying causes all kinds of problems. When we lie, it hurts us, and we hurt other people. Then, when others lie about us, it causes us problems. People think badly of us. They think we have done things we haven't done, and it is hard to change their perception. We can't rescue ourselves from these things, but God is there for us.

The psalmist told us just what to do by sharing what he had done himself. (Psalm 120:1-2) He cried to the Lord in his trouble, and the Lord answered him. He asked the Lord to rescue him from lying lips and from a deceitful tongue. Our God is able, even when we think we have an impossible situation.

Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. (John 14:6) He is Truth, and He wants us to always live in the truth and to tell the truth. Satan is the father of lies, and all lies can be traced back to his influence to try to destroy people, and to destroy the work of the Lord. If we cry out to the Lord, He will help us to overcome Satan's work and for the truth to come out.

God is so powerful, and He is holy, so He knows how to bring about justice and to make sure the truth is known to the people who need to find out. In fact, when others deceive us and speak lies about us, we can call on the Lord to shine His light on the lies and show the truth. In that way, we are rescued from the harm of the lies and deceit. We must ask Him to do this, because He is the Only One who can work it out for us.
