The Source of All Comfort
We all need comfort as we go through life. Life is hard. There are many troubles and trials. It is a part of being human, and some of it is a result of living a godly life in this sinful world. We need to make sure we know where to find comfort, or we will get in a bad place in our life.
The Bible is very clear on the source of the comfort we need. (II Corinthians 1:3) All praise should go to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father, and the Source of all comfort. I pray this verse will bring us the right focus, so we can receive all the comfort we need.
God is there for us, as believers, so He can provide the strength we need to go through every circumstance of life. The Holy Spirit is the Comforter, the One who comes along beside us and lifts us up, even carries us, when we need it. God's Word gives us His truth and comfort for our minds. We need to look to the Lord for our comfort.
I am not saying that counselors, books, and support groups are not good. I am saying that we will not receive the comfort we need from them, unless they are pointing us to the Lord and His Word. God uses others to comfort us, at times, but it is God working through them to help us. Therefore, lets give all the praise to the Lord, our merciful Father for His loving comfort.
