Not Just Talk
A lot of people talk a good game, but they don't actually live out what they talk about. In cases like that, talk is cheap. It doesn't matter how much we know about something. What matters is if we can actually do it. This is especially true of being a Christian.
Paul made this point to the Christians in Corinth. (I Corinthians 4:20) He told them that the Kingdom of God was not just a lot of talk; it was living by God's power. If all we do is talk about being a member of God's kingdom, there is nothing of substance to back up our talk.
We preach sermons about living and loving like Jesus, but are we doing what Jesus did and loving like He loved? Someone might say, "Well, that is very hard to do." Yes, is is not just hard, it is impossible to do, unless we are living by God's power. Then, we see God's kingdom in action in and through us.
That is how we can know that we are truly saved and a member of God's kingdom. If there are things in our life that can only be explained by the power of God, we have our evidence of belonging to God. If the Spirit is giving us power to be conformed to Christ's image, then, and only then, can we know He has saved us.
