Following the Lord
There are several ways to define being a Christian. We are believers in Jesus Christ. We are born again believers. We are Christ Followers. That is what I want us to focus on today. Let's think about what it means to follow Christ and how to do that.
Even David had this analogy in mind to describe his life with God. (Psalm 17:5) David let the Lord know that his steps had stayed on God's path. In fact, he had not wavered from following God. That is a great testimony that led him to a great life. The same can be true for us today.
In order to follow someone, we must have a relationship with that person that enables us to get close to them. Then, we must decide we will watch them closely and go wherever they go. This takes concentration and tenacity. We must decide not to go where we would go, but to strictly follow that person.
To be a Christ follower we must have a personal relationship with Him because of our faith in Him. Then, we have access to Him 24/7. We can pray and listen for Him to show us where He is leading us in our life. We can read His Word and do His will in the same way He did it. The key is to be constantly focused on Him and make every effort to do His will, not our own.
