The Fire Coming Down

Fire is powerful. It can be a great force for destruction, or it can be used as a source of light and heat to produce good things. When we see flames, they intrigue us, as we gaze in wonder at them. In the Bible fire is used to describe the power of God coming upon a place or a person.

When the temple was finished, the fire came. (II Chronicles 7:3) When all the people saw the fire coming down and the glorious presence of the Lord filling the temple, they fell face down on the ground and worshiped and praised the Lord, saying, "He is good. His faithful love endures forever." What an experience!

Just think of what would happen if God's people saw the fire fall again today. I believe it would start a great revival among believers. We would fall down before the Lord, worshiping and praising the Lord, as we confessed our sins and proclaimed His faithfulness.

That is what happened at Pentecost, too. Remember the tongues of fire that the disciples saw in the upper room. They were filled with the Spirit, and they went out to tell all the people gathered in Jerusalem about the wonderful works of God. That is just what we need today, too. Please, join me in praying for God to send His fire down on us again.
