Why Keep Yourself From Prospering?

There are so many people who are constantly striving to learn what it takes to prosper in life by reading books and going to lectures. They think there are secrets that they need to learn, and then they will have a great life. The way to prosper is not hidden in secrets. The way to prosper is revealed clearly in the Bible.

Zechariah told God's people this. (II Chronicles 24:20) The Spirit of God came upon Zechariah son of Jehoiada the priest. He said "This is what God says: Why do you disobey the Lord's commands and keep yourselves from prospering? You have abandoned God, and now He has abandoned you." Think about this with me.

God gave us His commands, not to bind us, but to set us free. His commands do not keep us from having a great life. They show us how to prosper in every area of life, not just money. All we have to do is submit to God and keep His commands, and we will see much progress in our lives from living His way.

However, there is one more element. When we disobey His commands and abandon God, we cut ourselves off from His blessings. Our obedience to His commands is what allows God to bless us as we do what His commands say. Therefore, let's return to the Lord and His Word to find the way to prosper in life and live in His blessings.
