Defeating Our Enemies
I am afraid we all have enemies. This is true no matter how nice and loving we are. Some people may not like us and try to hurt us. Even if people like us, the devil and His demons are against us, trying to keep us from doing God's will. We have to know how to defeat any enemy that might come against us.
Abijah, King of Judah, knew what to do when Israel attacked his army. Even though Israel's army was twice the size of his, they won the battle. (II Chronicles 13:18) Judah defeated Israel on that occasion because they trusted in the Lord, the God of their ancestors. Faith in the Lord brought victory then, and it will do the same now.
We have a hymn named "Faith is the Victory." That is a great Bible truth. We can't overcome the world, but God can and will give us victory over our enemies, as we trust Him to do His will for us. It doesn't mean we get what we want every time. No, it is asking Him to do it His way and believing He can.
Faith is total dependance on the One True and Living God. It is trusting in Jesus, His Only-Begotten Son, who loved us enough to die for us and rise again to give us salvation. Then, it is trusting in Him for all we need every day for eternity. That kind of faith brings victory over any enemies.
