The Cause of Death

 I think we all wonder about what will be the cause of our death. Some of us we will die from a disease or another physical condition. Others will die from a fall or another type of accident. However, there is another cause of death most of us don't consider, but we should. Some people die because of unfaithfulness to the Lord.

King Saul was one of those people. (I Chronicles 10:13-14) God's Word is very clear that Saul died because he was unfaithful to the Lord. He failed to obey the Lord's command, and he even consulted a medium instead of asking the Lord for guidance. So the Lord killed him and turned the kingdom over to David son of Jesse.

I am not saying this is an every day occurrence, but it does happen. God killed Ananias and Saphira because they lied to the Lord, being unfaithful to Him. Christians in Corinth died because they took the Lord's Supper in vain. It is definitely something we don't want to happen to us, as believers.

This reality should cause to seek to grow in our faith, not neglect it. It should make us pay attention to God's Word and His commands, so we don't break them. It should lead us to pray to God for guidance instead of reading our horoscope or consulting spirits. This is one cause of death that we can make sure doesn't happen to us.
