Peace and Quiet

In our busy world today I believe we all can see the need for peace and quiet. A life of conflict and constant noise is stressful and harmful. We need an escape from those things. A life of peace and quiet is what we want, and it is what God wants for us.

Solomon was blessed by God with peace and quiet during his reign. (I Chronicles 22:9) The Lord told David that he would have a son who would be a man of peace. He would give him peace with his enemies in all the surrounding lands. His name would be Solomon, and God would give him peace and quiet during his reign. Sounds amazing, doesn't it?

God's will for us, as believers, is to live quiet and peaceable lives. (I Timothy 2:2) In order to have this kind of life we need to be praying for all people, for our leaders and those in our lives. We need to be living holy lives with God's priorities. Then, God can bless us and those around us to have peace and quiet from the conflicts of this world.

However, many of us do not experience peace and quiet. Our lives are chaotic. There is strife between us and other people. There is the constant noise from broken relationships and angry people. This is the result of living lives in the flesh and not allowing God's Spirit to fill us and accomplish His will for our lives. I pray we will all seek the Lord fully and live in peace and quiet.
