God's Will, but Not God's Way

It is possible to do God's will in the wrong way. This can be very destructive for the kingdom of God. It can bring shame on the Lord. We must be very careful to discern God's will and then to ask Him how to do it His way, not ours.

Uzzah died because David decided to do God's will in the wrong way. (I Chronicles 13:3,10) David did well to discern with the leaders that it was time to bring back the Ark which had been neglected in Saul's' reign. However, they used a cart, instead of carrying it in God's way by the poles. The Lord's anger was aroused against Uzzah, and He struck him dead when Uzzah laid his hand on the Ark to steady it. So Uzzah died there in the presence of God.

A vital spiritual principle is that the ends do not justify the means. In short, it really matters how we do the good things God wants us to do. God's way is always the best way and the right way. We must be sure to ask God to show us both His will and His way to avoid costly mistakes or tragedies.

It is God's will for us to see people saved and churches grow, so His kingdom will grow, and He will receive glory. If we try to do these things using business principles or other worldly principles, it will damage God's work, not help it. God doesn't need help from us. He simply needs obedience. So let's always do God's will in God's way.
