Wanting and Giving
Have you noticed that there are basically two types of people, those who are always wanting more and those who are always giving to others? It is not just that they were born with different personalities. There is a much more fundamental spiritual reason for this difference. Solomon hit the nail on the head when he told us that sinners are always wanting what they don't have, while God-loyal people are always giving what they do have. (Proverbs 21:26) I hope we all know why this is true, but I believe we need to explore this, so we can get it right in our lives.
Sinners are led by the fleshly desires that they have because of being human. It is their nature to naturally want to experience more pleasure and to have everything they do not have. People who do not know the Lord can't be content, because their life is all wrapped up in meeting their needs by themselves. Therefore, they focus on doing all they can do to have more and more of whatever their heart desires. This basically leads them to use other people and their circumstances to get whatever they can. They are never satisfied, so they are always searching for the next thing to get, in hopes it will finally solve their problem. However, the Lord Jesus is the Only One who can meet these needs. Once we turn to Him, He takes care of that longing for more, since we have all we need in Him. We realize that pleasure, money, and all the things we used to seek don't meet those needs. We learn to be content in Him, trusting Him for what we have. Then, as we become like Jesus, we give what we have to others. Out hearts desire is to let others see Jesus in us, and we develop Jesus' heart to meet the needs of others. Let's all stop to consider this, and if we do not know Christ or have true contentment, I pray we will put our trust in Him and ask Him to conform us to His image by the Holy Spirit.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Proverbs 22-25.
