The Manna Test

God gives us all kinds of tests. Some of them come in the form of trials where we go through difficulties to see if we will trust Him. Some tests are much more pleasant, but just as important. God's gives us instructions in His Word for our benefit to see if we will obey Him, and many times His instructions are very good for us. He even shows us why we should believe what He is saying. That is what He did for Israel in the wilderness once they crossed the Red Sea on dry ground. They complained about not having bread. Therefore, God told Moses that He was going to rain down bread from heaven(Manna) for all 2,000,000+ people. He would send down enough for each one to have their portion each day, and then, on the sixth day, they would get a double portion. (Exodus 16:4,5) This was God's delicious Manna test. However, some of them failed the test, so we need to consider what happened, so we will not fail our tests from God.

What a miracle! God rained bread from heaven. That should have proved God's power, and the people should have listened. However, we have the Bible, the Word of God, which has been confirmed to us in many ways, but often, we do not heed what God says in His Word, either. God's Word tells us to seek Him in the morning, and we can feed upon His Word, and have sweet fellowship with Him to feed our soul. Do we do it? That is His test for us, but we miss out. God commands us to seek first His kingdom, and then, He will add to us all of the necessities of life. Do we do that, or do we try to do it ourselves. Some of the Israelites gathered too much and kept it until the next day, but it rotted and it smelled terrible. They failed the test. Some went out on the Sabbath to gather, and they found none. They were supposed to get twice as much on the sixth day. They failed the test. Don't be too hard on them. Are we doing God's will, because He wants to rain down blessings on us when we keep His Word? That is a great question for all of us.
