Never Compromise Your Integrity

If we have integrity, we will do the right thing every time, no matter the circumstances or who knows what we are doing. Integrity is acting righteously, even in the dark when no one else will know what we are doing. Of course, God sees and knows all that we do, so we are never able to do anything without Him knowing about it. However, many people forget about God seeing everything, and they compromise their integrity when they think it will benefit them in some way. That is a terrible way to think. Moses was inspired to instruct us in several areas where we must be people of integrity, if we are to have a good testimony before other people. (Exodus 23:1-3) Let's look at God's commands and give ourselves a thorough evaluation. If we don't do it, we can be sure that God will, and it will not be good for us.

We must not pass on gossip. When we gossip we tell things, whether true or not, that are not helpful but harmful to other people. We must reject gossip and not even listen to it. We must not listen to sinful people who encourage us to give a corrupt version of something that happened. We must always tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Also, we must not be people pleasers, who decide to change what we say to please people around us.  Our concern must be to please the Lord, no matter what others think of us. Finally, we must not favor someone in a dispute just because they are poor, or because they are our friend. We must treat everyone equally, all of the time, and give the facts in every instance. See what I mean? It is easy to compromise in these areas, unless we are sold out to being people of integrity, whom others can count on to do the right thing every time.
