God's Name
There are many titles for God in the Bible. Also, we read a lot of descriptions of who He is. However, there is only one name for God that is His name forever. This is so important because in the Bible times a name revealed the character of the person. This name reveals the nature and character of God. (Exodus 3:13,14) When we know the name, we have a much better view of who God is and how we should relate to Him.
God told Moses that His name was YHWH. That is the Hebrew word "I AM." It means that God is who He is and nothing can change Him, I-AM-WHO-I-AM. God is outside of time and space, so He sees the past, the present, and the future all at once. He resides in the eternal present. This name also shows us that God is ___________. We can fill in the blank with anything that is perfectly righteous and eternally true. That is why Jesus could say "I Am the way the Truth, and the Life." He is God. God is the Provider, the Light, and the Judge. Therefore, when we put these two things together, we know that God is always there to do whatever we need that is right and good, and we can count on His faithfulness.
