God's Comforting Reassurance
Sometimes we need a word from the Lord to assure us that we have heard from Him, and we are doing the right thing. It is at these times that we could be afraid, or we could be unsure of what our future holds. However, God is good to come to us with His comforting assurance that He is working His plan for our life. That is just what God did for Jacob when he was traveling down to Egypt after hearing that Joseph was alive, and he had been promoted to second in command in that powerful country. (Genesis 46:3,4) Let's consider what God told Jacob, so we can see how God can and does work in our lives when we are listening to Him.
God has a plan for our lives that started before we were born. He had us to be born to our father and mother for a reason. He wants to assure us that He knew our father, and He knows what He has for us. Nothing takes God by surprise. God never wants us to be afraid of people or situations we will face in life. We need to know that He is in control, and He will use our circumstances to complete us and to make us all we can be. Many times, He takes us to unusual places, so we can grow, and we can be prepared to come back to where we were before. We need to know that, and we need to be assured that even in death, He will be with us. He will work His plan and have those who love us around us. God is so good. His assurances are our comfort, so we can walk through life with Him in confidence.
