God's Gift to All Believers
God has given all of His children everything we need to do His will and to do it very well. Many believers do not realize this, but it is true. They fail in their efforts to live the Christian life, because they try to do it in their own power. Often, they are afraid of what others will say or do, so they compromise on what God told them to do. That is a sin, and it does not accomplish His will. Therefore, they are living out of the will of God, because of fear. Paul told us that this should never happen, because God has not given any of us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and of sound judgment. (II Timothy 1:7) This is a pivotal truth for every believer.
If we are afraid of people, we are not getting that fear from God, but from Satan. We need to reject that fear, draw near to God, and He will draw near to us, while we resist the devil, and he has to flee from us. (James 4:7,8) The Bible promises us that "perfect love" casts out all fear. (I John 4:18) Therefore, let's determine to love God fully and follow His commands, so fear will be gone. Then, we need to operate our lives with His power, love, and sound judgment. When we use those gifts which He has given to us, we are ready for anything. We have the power to overcome anyone or anything. We can say and do the right thing in love every time. We can always make the right decisions, because of His gift of sound judgment. What a wonderful gift from the Lord! However, we have to receive it, and use it for it to be an effective part of our lives. If we leave it alone, like an unwrapped Christmas present, it will do us no good to have the gift which God provided.
