Encourage Each Other Daily

Life is a challenge even under the best circumstances. Each day brings new problems and trials, as well as, new blessings. For those of us who know the Lord, we have the Holy Spirit in us to guide us and empower us through every day. He is our Teacher, and He is able to give us victory. However, one of the ways that the Holy Spirit helps us is by using other believers to encourage us along the way. The Bible is clear that we need the support and encouragement of fellow followers of Christ to be strong and fight the good fight of faith. (Hebrews 3:13) Let me try to explain why we need both God's Spirit and daily encouragement from others to be effective in living the Christian life.

Satan is relentless. He has demons to tempt us and to lead us subtly into what we might call "small sins," but there is no such thing. When we fall into sin, it brings a change in our hearts. We become hardened to what God is saying, and we are more open to sin more. It really helps us to have a fellow traveler to come beside us and encourage us to be faithful to the Lord each day. It is not something we need once a week by going to church. We need it daily, because we can build up a lot of hardness in a week. Then, when we go to church the Word of God does not sink in like it should, and we are not able to worship in Spirit and in truth, either. I pray that this verse and this truth will cause us to be active in encouraging those around us on a daily basis, praying for them, and holding them accountable if we see them slipping into sins. This is God's plan to keep us faithful and pure in heart.
