We Cannot be Shaken

Being a true follower of the Lord Jesus Christ has many benefits. Of course, once we trust in Him as Lord and Savior we have our sins forgiven, and we have eternal life. That is such a blessing! However, we also have the stability from the Lord that keeps us from being shaken. The psalmist put it in the most graphic terms. As believers, we are like Mount Zion. It is not going anywhere. It remains forever. This is because of God's strength being with us and His presence being with us now and forever. (Psalm 125:1,2) I think we can all feel kind of shaken at times, so we need to consider what the Lord said here.

When we trust the Lord, and we belong to Him, He gives us steadfastness. He anchors us down firmly like a huge mountain. We do not need to worry about our salvation or our well-being. However, sometimes we do worry, and we forget to trust in the Lord for our daily needs. This promise is only true when we are trusting the Lord. If we are trusting our self, we are very shaky. We must remember that God is surrounding us, just like the mountains surround Jerusalem. God is as near as a prayer. When we feel trouble coming, we need to stop before we try to do anything. We need to ask God to give us His strength and to show us His presence. Then, we can proceed in the power of the Lord, knowing that He is all-powerful, and we will be victorious. When we do that we cannot be shaken. Praise the Lord!
