Pray for the Well-Being of Jerusalem

Most of the time we pray for people. We pray for our self. We pray for other people. However, the Bible commands us to pray for a place. That place is a very special place. It is the city of God. We are admonished by the Lord to pray for the well-being of Jerusalem. We are to pray for the city to have peace and security. (Psalm 122:6,7) I wonder how many of us do this on a regular basis. I believe we should.

Just think about it. God sent Abraham to offer his Son, Isaac, on Mount Moriah, which is part of Jerusalem. It is called the Mountain of the Lord. Then, God commanded the Jewish people to build the Temple on that same mountain. It was in the Temple that God came to dwell among His people. Finally, at the end of time Jesus will return to reign for 1,000 years, and He will reign from His throne in Jerusalem. Jerusalem is very special to God, and we should pray for its well-being as the time draws nearer for Christ to return. This prayer even says, "May those who love you be secure." It is good for us to love Jerusalem, and God blesses us when we do.

Next February, we will be taking a 10 day trip to the Holy Land and Jerusalem. I hope you will pray about going with us. It is truly a great thrill to walk where Jesus walked and to see the city of God, where Jesus died for our sins and rose from the grave. It would be a great blessing for me to be able to experience it with you in 2020. Please, let me know if you need any information about our trip.
