In the Morning

God really knew what He was doing when He created 24 hour days. I believe that is the perfect amount of time for us to get in our work, our sleep, and everything else God wants us to do on a regular basis. Because of His wisdom we have a morning, noon, and night each day. This leads us to have 3 meals, and it divides our days just right. I am especially thankful that each day has a morning. Yes, I know some people are not morning people. However, when we do get up in the morning, the dawn is amazing, and we know that we have another opportunity to be alive and do God's will. Each morning has promise, if we know Him. Also, it is the right time to draw near to God and call to Him. In the psalms of David we see numerous references to the time he spent with the Lord in the mornings. (Psalm 5:3) Let's think about what David showed us in this verse.

David made mornings his time of prayer. God could count on hearing David's voice in the morning. He did not rush into the day without talking to God. He had his priorities straight, and God knew it. That is one thing about David that pleased Him so much. He knew David trusted Him, because his actions in the mornings showed it. I pray that the same things are true for us. If we have that unhurried time with the Lord in the morning, our lives will go so much better. It is then that we can plead our case to the Lord. We can praise Him and thank Him. Then, we can lay out our needs. We can ask for His direction, and watch expectantly, knowing that God has heard us, and He will answer. If we start watching in the morning, we are much less likely to miss anything He has for us during the day. Then, we can accomplish all of the things the Lord has foreordained we should do in that 24 hour period.(Ephesians 2:10) As we are faithful, we have a sense of His pleasure with us, and we get to do these things over the next day. Each day is full of His mercies, and they are new every morning, (Lamentations 3:22, 23) What a wonderful God we serve!

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 6-8.
