Working with Integrity
I have found it harder and harder to get people to do what they are supposed to do. This is especially true with employees of businesses with which I deal. It seems that I have to fix things that are left undone or have things redone that they failed to do. It seems we have an integrity problem today. It makes life so much more complicated for everyone when this is the case. That is why God commands us to live as people of integrity and to do our work with integrity. In the days of Joash, king of Judah, silver was collected to do repairs on the temple. When the money was given to the men to pay the workers, they did not have to give an accounting for the money, because those men worked with integrity. (II Kings 12:15) This is a great testimony, and we all should be people of integrity like they were.
Integrity is doing the right thing, whether anyone is watching over us or not. Integrity is doing our best with what we have. When we work with integrity we are loyal to our supervisors, and we do things the way they want them to be done. Integrity flows from having solid, righteous character. Righteous character is when we are the same person in the dark when no one sees what we are doing, as we are when everyone is watching us. When we live a life of integrity or run a business with integrity, people respect us, and they are quick to recommend us to their friends. I pray that we will all seek to be people of integrity in all we do.
Tomorrow, I intend to read II Kings 13-15.
