What Brings God's Wrath
Josiah was a great king of Judah, even though he started at the age of eight. He followed the Lord's will like David did. However, they found a copy of the book of the law while cleaning the temple. They read about God's punishment, if the people did not obey the words of the law. Josiah tore his clothes in anguish because he realized that God's wrath was kindled against them, because of their lack of obedience to the words of God's book. (II Kings 22:13) I wonder how angry the Lord is with the church today because of the same reason.
God gave us the Bible to show us His love, and His plan of salvation. He also gave it to show us what is very important to Him. He sent Christ to die for us and to rise again to purchase our salvation. Then, the church was founded. The rest of the Bible, which is the New Testament, was inspired and written after that. God expects His church to follow the words of the whole Bible, but especially the New Testament, which is all for His family, the church. I believe His anger is kindled against us when we do not obey the Bible completely. It ought to be our authority in every area for what we believe and practice. However, sometimes we get lax, and we just do what we have done before, instead of being intentional about doing all God has told us. I pray that we would be careful to follow the word of God totally, so we can avoid the wrath of God that came upon Judah.
Tomorrow, I intend to read II Kings 23-25 and I Chronicles 1.
