God Spoke, and It was so.
God is the most powerful person in the universe. Yes, He is a person. We are all made in His image. One aspect of being a person created in the image of God is that we have the ability to communicate on a very high level. God does that all of the time, and since we are persons, too, we can receive that communication. When we hear God speaking to us, we can know that it will always be the truth, and whatever He says will happen, just as He says it will. One example of this was when God told Jehu that he would have four generations of his sons to sit on the throne of Israel. That is exactly what happened. (II Kings 15:12) We should all be assured that we can trust whatever God says.
The Bible is the Word of God. We can always trust the Bible. It is inerrant, since God moved the men who wrote it by the power of the Holy Spirit. It is infallible, which means it always leads us in the right way, when we understand it correctly. Therefore, we need to read the Bible as God's trustworthy communication to us and base our lives on it. Also, God speaks to us by His Spirit today. As we read His Word, as we pray, and as we hear His Word taught and preached, we can hear from Him. When He speaks we should always listen and obey. If He gives us a promise or a prophecy, we should order our lives around what He tells us. That is His way of blessing us to know how He will act on our behalf.
Tomorrow, I intend to read II Kings 16-18.
