Wisdom from Above
There is an earthly wisdom that is how the people of this world see wisdom. Then, there is a wisdom from above which is God's wisdom. His wisdom is the only true wisdom. In fact, sometimes, earthly wisdom is the opposite of God's wisdom. How can we tell the difference. James was inspired by God to answer that very important question. (James 3:17) We need to make sure we hear what the Lord told him, so we do not get fooled into accepting earthly wisdom.
The wisdom from above is pure. It is not mixed with any earthly wisdom. It does not contain things that are not wise in God's eyes. It is always peaceable. The wisdom of God brings people to be at peace with each other, not in conflict. It is also gentle. When we see God's wisdom and we use it, we will not use it to harm others. We will want what is best for others. Also, when we have the wisdom from above we are open to reason. We are willing to listen to people with other views. We are not afraid to expose God's wisdom to other views, since we know His way is superior to man's way. When we use God's wisdom we are full of mercy and good fruits. We don't seek to punish people as much as possible, but we show them mercy, while at the same time, we see good fruits from our actions that are in line with the wisdom from above. Finally, the true wisdom is impartial and sincere. God's wisdom is true for everyone everywhere, so it applies to everyone, everywhere equally. It is sincere. There is not falsehood associated with the wisdom from above. It is never fake. If any wisdom passes these tests, it is real wisdom. If a person passes these tests, that person is a truly wise person, not just a person with earthly wisdom.
Tomorrow, I intend to read James 4-5 and I Peter 1.
