Encouraging One Another

There are many "one anothers" in the New Testament. Each one is an admonition to us, as believers, to help each other out in some way. It is a great study to go through all of them. However, let's focus in on just one. The writer of Hebrews is concerned about the church members continuing in their faith. He commanded them to do several things that we should all heed, because they are still needed in our churches today. (Hebrews 10:24,25) Let's see what the Lord is saying to us.

We are commanded to take the time to consider how to stir up one another to love and good works. We all need accountability. It is very difficult for most people to consistently live a life of love and good works without a brother or sister coming alongside of them to spur them on or to correct them when needed. In order for this to happen, we must not neglect meeting together as a body of Christ and in small groups, where we can get to know each other's needs. Then, we can truly know how to encourage one another, and we have the connection so that we do it regularly. This should be done even more, since we see that the return of Christ could be soon, and we want to be found faithful when He comes. Therefore, we need encouragement  and we need to encourage others, too. Then, we can all be ready to be caught up to Christ in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Hebrews 11-13.
