Our Confidence in the Lord
As the writer of Hebrews closes out the book, the Lord gives him several short truths that are very meaningful and easy to remember. Then, the Lord showed him something that we can all use to give ourselves a test. The test has to do with our confidence in the Lord. (Hebrews 13:6) The word confidence comes from the word "faith." We can read this verse and ask ourselves if we really trust God in the way we should.
Each believer should be able to confidently say, "The Lord is my Helper." Think about this. Are you assured that the Lord of the universe is your Helper? If not, you are missing out on one of the most important realities about the Lord. He loves you. He wants to help you with everything in your life. All He asks is that we all seek to follow Him and do His will. Then, He will give us all of the help we ever need. Then, we all should be able to say, "I will not fear." Can you affirm that truth? Is your life filled with fear or free from fear? It should be free from fear if we are walking with God and allowing Him to be our Helper. Finally, our attitude should be "What can man do to me?" When we realize that God is for us, we should know that human beings can't really do anything to us. God is in control, so even of they kill our body, God will give us a new one in heaven. Is that your attitude? If we fail any or all of these test questions, we are not living in the victory the Lord has planned for us. I pray that each of us will experience the complete victory that comes from being confident that God is our Helper, and we need not fear anything or anyone.
Tomorrow, I intend to read James 1-3.
