God Humbles the Proud
Nebuchadnezzar was a very powerful king who reigned over most of the inhabited world of his time. Daniel and his friends did various miracles to show the king that he needed to put his trust in the One True God, but he did not do that. Finally, God brought him very low to teach him a great lesson, and so he could choose to put his faith in God. Once the trial was over, Nebuchadnezzar honored the God of heaven from his heart. (Daniel 4:37) It is an amazing story, and it's principles apply to us today.
After all the king saw, he still walked in pride, and he did not bow to God in faith. Therefore, God took his ability to reason from him, and he became like an animal, living outside, and eating grass like a cow. This could have lasted 7 months or 7 years, the Bible only says 7 periods of time. However, at the end he was humbled and trusted the Lord.
We can be guilty of the same thing. We can see the goodness and power of God, but continue to walk in pride. God knows just how to bring us down. He does not force us to trust Him, but He makes it very clear to us what we need to do. Therefore, no one has any excuse for not trusting the Lord. Think about your life, and you will see how this has happened to you, even if you did not know what was happening at the time. Please, turn from your pride to the Lord Jesus, so He can save you and deliver you from all of the destruction of sin.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Daniel 5-7.
