Destroyed for Lack of Knowledge
God gave Hosea a message for the people of Israel. He told them they were destroyed for their lack of knowledge, because they had rejected knowledge. (Hosea 4:6) I would imagine if you had asked any of the people of that time, they would have said that they had plenty of knowledge, and they did not know how they had rejected knowledge. However, they had definitely rejected knowledge, and they were being destroyed for their rejection. The knowledge the Lord was talking about was the correct knowledge, the knowledge that comes from His laws or His Word. The people had rejected the Lord and His Word, so they could no longer be used by God as a priest to bring this world to Himself. Also, since they had forgotten His laws, He would forget their children. This was a very serious situation, and we can see how the same thing is happening today.
Many people, even believers, have forgotten the laws of God, and thereby have rejected the only true knowledge. They are going their own way and justifying their own logic, when they are completely wrong. This lack of knowledge is destroying their lives, their families, and our country. In fact, they want to put God and His Word out of our country totally. They think it would be better if they did. That is how bereft of knowledge the are. They think they are right, when they are completely wrong. Therefore, they are heading away from God, and the unbelievers are headed to eternal destruction. What a sad course of events. The only way to reverse this is a revival of trusting God and His Word. I hope that is our prayer every day. It is our only hope.
