God's Deliverance of the Righteous

Some people have the misconception that righteous people do not have very many afflictions. David cleared up any confusion about that when he told us that "many" are the afflictions of the righteous. (Psalm 34:19) The Lord does not keep the righteous from afflictions, but He delivers those who trust Him from "all of them." What a wonderful promise from the Lord!

Please, do not think that God does not love you because you are having problems and trials in your life. It could be just the opposite. He could be showing Satan and his demons your spiritual strength like He did with Job. He could be simply making your faith stronger through the trials of life. (James 1:2-4) Afflictions are not a sign that we are not loved by the Lord; they are opportunities for God to deliver us from them by His great power and wisdom. Each time we are delivered we see something new about the Lord, which strengthens our relationship. Therefore, we must not focus on the afflictions, but on the deliverance God promised. That way we do not get depressed, but we get excited about what God will do as we remain true to Him.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 35-37.
