A Very Present Help In Trouble

God is amazing. He is always present with every one of us, especially with His children. He is so present that we can speak to Him softly, and He always hears us. In fact, He knows our hearts, even without a word being spoken. He is there as our Lord to relate to us and to help us in any time of trouble. We can be sure that He is our Refuge and our Strength, just like the psalmist said. (Psalm 46:1,2) There is never an occasion in which we should be afraid of what will happen to us.

To prove his point of how much God is there to help us in any situation the psalmist seems to use the illustration of a great earthquake. When we experience a huge earthquake, it is a very humbling and scary scenario, since there is no where to run physically to avoid the shaking. The best we can do is to get away from things that will fall on us. We can't do anything to save property or other people in that moment. However, God is there. He can save us, even if the earth changes and the mountains slip into the heart of the sea. He is so powerful that He can protect His own whenever the earth beneath our feet is not stable and can't be trusted.

I believe this should give us great confidence in the Lord to realize these truths about His nature and power. He is not limited by time and space. He has all power. There is not a time when we are separated from Him, and when He can't help us. Let's decide to trust Him and cease being afraid.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 48-51.
