Delight Yourself in the Lord
What do you delight in? What is the desire of your heart that brings you the most joy? We all need to ask ourselves these questions and to be very honest with ourselves and the Lord. If we delight in anything or anyone more than we delight in the Lord, we have created an idol in our lives, and that is very dangerous. The reason I say that is simple. God will give you the desires of your heart when you delight in Him. (Psalm 37:4) He will not give you the desires of your heart, if you are delighting in anything else.
God looks at our hearts. He knows what to give us based on our heart condition. If our hearts are set on Him, then we want to do His will more than anything else. Therefore, He will give us our desires by giving us His will. His will is what is best for us and our lives. That means we will have what is best for us, only when we delight in the Lord. If God gave us the desires of our hearts when we do not delight in Him, He would be leading us into sin, which He cannot do.
