Shedding Innocent Blood

King Manasseh did many evil things and led the people of Judah into much sin that grieved God. However, to top it all off he filled Jerusalem with the innocent blood he and others shed. (II Kings 21:16) God hates the shedding of innocent blood. He hates it when the life of an innocent person is taken in any way. When that happens the land needs to be cleansed by confessing that sin and repenting of it, so that people stop taking innocent lives.

In America, we think we are a good country, but we do not value the sanctity of human life. Each year many unborn babies are murdered in their mother's womb. It is the height of shedding innocent blood, because that child has not even entered the world to do anything wrong. I believe our country is filled with innocent blood, too, and if God does not punish America severely, then He owes Judah an apology on Judgment Day. Of course, God is always just, so that could be the reason we see our country declining today. If not, we will see it decline and be destroyed if we do not cleanse our land of innocent blood of all  kinds.

If we really want to see America become great again, it will not come through materialism or military power. It will come through returning to the morality and faith of the Bible, so that we believe in Jesus, God's Son, and we obey His Word. That will make America great again.

Tomorrow, I intend to read II Kings 22-24.
