Jerusalem Conquered and Destroyed
God was so angry with the sins of King Manasseh and the people of Judah that He allowed the King of Babylon to come with his army and completely destroy His holy city. He broke down the walls and took all of the riches of the city back to Babylon, along with many of the people.(II Kings 25:10) This was a sad day, but God had warned them many times to turn from their sins and the idols of the land, and return fully to Him. The lesson is that God always punishes sin, and He always does what He says He will do.
I do not like to be negative in this blog, but at times, it is necessary to write about the wages of sin. Sin is real. God hates sin. God is holy, so He must punish our sins. Even the sins of His people will be punished. We must take Him seriously in the Bible every time we find a warning or a punishment. Then, we must follow the Lord in the power of the Holy Spirit to stay away from those things.
I have suggested that we look up the promises of the Bible and live by them. Today, I am saying to look at the warnings of the Bible, and stay away from those things, no matter what it takes. Then, listen to the Lord and do His will. That is the path to a holy, happy life.
Tomorrow, I intend to read I Chronicles 4-7.
