Persistent Unfaithfulness

God is love, so He treats people and nations with grace and mercy, as much as possible. However, when a nation sins against God by persistent unfaithfulness, God has to take drastic measures to stop their unfaithfulness and encourage them to repent. (Ezekiel 14:13) That is what He did in Ezekiel's day, and He could do the same to America today.

God understands our weaknesses. He knows when we fall into sin, and we are ashamed of what we have done. He also knows when we persist in sins without remorse. When He sees that, He has no option but to punish severely. When He does that to a nation, He is actually acting out of love, because He knows the terrible effects of persistent unfaithfulness.

We have been in persistent unfaithfulness in America for many years now. We have told people that prayer in schools is wrong. We have mocked the Bible as the Word of God. We have rejected the moral laws of God's Word, and we flaunt sins that are clearly against God's Word. We see the results in the breakdown of the family, sexual immorality, addictions, and violence. God must be getting very close to punishing us severely. We need to stop persisting in these types of sins, and cry out to God from a faithful heart, so that He will stop His judgment on us.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Ezekiel 15-17.
