Hallow My Sabbaths

God has commanded all people to keep the Sabbath Day holy. God made it holy after He created the world in 6 days. He rested the seventh day and set it apart as a holy day. On that one day each week, we are to worship Him and to rest from our usual work. Ezekiel was still having to remind the people of this in his day. (Ezekiel 20:20) Why is it that people resist keeping the Sabbath holy?

God said the Sabbath was a sign between Him and us that we may know that He is the Lord God. In other words, by keeping the Sabbath, we are showing Him and others that we trust Him with all of our hearts, so that we obey what He has said. Setting aside one day for the Lord is symbolic of giving Him all of our days and all of our lives. If we do not do this consistently, it shows that we are not really trusting the Lord, so we do not know Him as the Lord God of our lives. That is what it takes to be a believer.

Some people quit setting aside the Sabbath for worship because they get upset with another person. If they quit worshiping God, they are not letting Him rule their lives, but they are letting what another human being did rule their lives. See what I mean? If Jesus is Lord of our lives, we will worship and serve Him, no matter what other people say or do.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Ezekiel 21-24.
