Something Precious to God

Many people do not like to think about death or dying. Some are afraid of the pain or suffering associated with dying. Others are unsure of what death will bring, so it scares them. However, I believe we should realize that death is a part of life. We will all die, unless we belong to Jesus, and He comes to rapture us out of this world before that happens. Therefore, we need to see death as God sees it, and we need to prepare for it. The psalmist gives us a great insight into both of these things. (Psalm 116:15) Consider this truth.

The death of a believer is precious in the sight of God. He holds us dear, so when we die to go and to be with Him, it is a wonderful time for Him. He looks forward to welcoming us home. I would compare it to a new parent bringing a new baby home. What a joyous time, and what a precious event. Now, the child is to be there with them 24/7 to love and to enjoy. I believe God looks at the death of His saints in much the same way.

Notice, this says the death of His saints. The Bible tell us that God takes no pleasure in the death of the unbelievers. (Ezekiel 33:11) He desires that every person trust Christ and become one of His saints, which means "holy ones." (I Timothy 2:4) Then, we are prepared to go to heaven, because our sins have been washed away by the blood of the Lamb, and we can enter the perfection of heaven with the righteousness of Christ. Therefore, our preparation for death is to turn from our way, trust Christ who died for us and rose again to forgive our sins, and surrender to Him as Lord. Then, and only then, do we belong to the Lord for eternity, because He saves us by His grace.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 118-119:64
