Created in Christ Jesus for Good Works
We are not saved from our sins just so we can go to heaven when we die. Our eternal life starts the moment we trust Christ as our Lord and Savior. From that point the Holy Spirit comes into us to make us like Jesus. The Bible says we are God's workmanship. That literally means "His masterpiece." He is taking His time to make into the image of His Son. However, at the same time He has prepared beforehand good works for us to do, while we are becoming all we should be. (Ephesians 2:10) This is so valuable for all of us to remember.
If you are a believer, God has something for you to do today. He decided what you should do even before you were redeemed by the blood of Christ. In fact, He has good works laid out for each of us for each day of our lives in Christ. Therefore, when we get up, we should spend some time in prayer asking God to show us what He has for us to do today. We should submit to the Holy Spirit to fill us and lead us through our day doing His will.
We are not to pick out what we like to do or even what we think we are good at. We are to do the good works He has for us, because those things are the best for us. He made us. He knows us best, and He designed them for us. What a deal! A life customized for us by the God who loves us enough to die for us and give us eternal, abundant life.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Ephesians 3-5.
