Blameless and Harmless Children of God

God has a goal for every believer in this world. We are to become blameless and harmless, without fault in the midst of this crooked and perverse generation, so that we can shine as lights. (Philippians 2:15) That is a tall order, but it is completely possible as we grow in the Lord and the power of the Spirit.

We are blameless when we live in such a way that we avoid sinning, but when we do fall into sin, we seek forgiveness and restitution as might be called for in that situation. No one is perfect, but we can be blameless by living so that no one can blame us for acting the way we did and have a valid case against us.

We are harmless when we do not seek to over-power people or to be vindictive toward anyone, but we act in love to build up others. We help people come to know the Lord by showing them Jesus in our words and actions, so we do not harm them, but we help them.

When we are blameless and harmless, we can be without fault in this world where people are crooked and perverse all around us. When we are faultless we are seen in great contrast to those who are filled with faults. The difference should be as great as light and darkness. Then, we will shine as lights in the world for the Lord Jesus. Just think of how we could impact the world around us, if we reach this goal.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Philippians 3-4 and Colossians 1-2.
