God Knows Everything About You
I get the impression that people think they can hide things from God. They seem to think they can keep Him from knowing what is in their heart as well as keep Him from knowing some of the things they do. Nothing could be farther from the truth. David dispelled that misconception long ago, and he did it with a remarkable revelation to us about God. (Psalm 139:16) Let's explore this a little.
God saw you before your body was formed in your mother's womb. He knew what you would look like, and He knew your personality before you were conceived. The word substance refers to our total make-up as a person. Remember, He knew this before we were even formed. Therefore, God has complete knowledge of us that is not based on seeing what we do or say. He knows our very being.
Also, your days are all written in His book. He wrote them in this book before your first day. Therefore, He knows just how long we will live before our lives begin. However, I do not believe this is simply a number of days. David told us that He fashioned those days for us. This reminds me of Ephesians 2:10, one of my favorite verses. God not only knows our days, He fashioned them, and He fore-ordained what we should do in those days. That does not mean He forces us to do anything. It simply means that He knows what we will do, and He has planned out what His will is for us each of those days.
Therefore, do you see why I say He knows everything about us? We can't hide anything, because He knew us before we existed, and He knew what we would do before we existed. That means we need to be totally honest with Him, and look to Him to show us what He has planned for us in the days He fashioned for us, while we live every one of our days for His glory.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 142-144.
