The Sin of Remaining Silent
When we have good news, we want to share it. Christians have the best news to share with the world. It is a sin for us to remain silent about how Jesus died for our sins and rose again to show Himself as the Triumphant Lord, so that He could save us from our sins and give us eternal life. The story of the four lepers sharing the good news about God's deliverance of Samaria from the Syrian army is a great example of this truth.(II Kings 7:9) They realized the sin of remaining silent, and we need to realize it, too.
People are dying and going to Hell, because they have sinned, and no one has told them the good news about the solution for their sin problem. It is a crisis situation that is even worse than if everyone around us was starving to death. The people without Christ will be separated from God for eternity. Those of us who have found Christ have what they need. It is wrong for us to remain silent. It doesn't matter if we are afraid, or we don;t know just what to say. It is our responsibility to share the good news.
How will we explain it to Christ when we stand before Him, if we tell Him that we were silent about the good news? What will He say to us? This is a day of good news, let's share it in love for all people.
Tomorrow, I intend to read II Kings 10-12.
