Open Our Eyes
Spiritual warfare is taking place all around us. Some people can see this happening and some people do not have a clue about what is going on. When the king of Syria sent many chariots and troops to kill Elisha, He knew what God was doing to protect him, but he had to ask God to open the eyes of his servant, so he could see, too.(II Kings 6:17) We all need to pray such a prayer for ourselves and those we love.
Yes, there are strong forces of evil in this world, but those who are with us are more than those who are with them.(II Kings 6:16) If we think God is outnumbered in any way, we are sadly mistaken. Remember, only one third of the angels followed Satan, so there are twice as many angels as demons. Besides that God is All-powerful, All-wise, and Omnipresent. Satan is none of those. Therefore, God can't loose.
So you might ask, "Why can't I see these things, and why do I keep getting defeated?" The things of God are spiritually discerned, so if you are not a believer in tune with the Spirit, you can't see these things.(I Corinthians 2:14,15) Also, the truth is that God protects those who "fear" Him.(Psalm 34:7) When we fear God, we live a life of submission and trust in Him 24/7. Therefore, I urge us all to not only pray a prayer like Elisha prayed, but to submit to the Lord and be filled with His Spirit. Then, He can and will open our eyes to the spiritual realities around us all the time.
Tomorrow, I intend to read II Kings 7-9.
