The City of Truth

There is far too little truth being spoken in our world today. World leaders are doing the opposite of what is true and right, and they are calling it truth. It seems that the logic of the world is upside down and backwards when it comes to truth. However, one day God will return truth to this world, and Jerusalem will be the "City of Truth."(Zechariah 8:3) Frankly, I find that to be an amazing turnaround from what has been the case in the past, and it shows the great shift that is taking place in the world today. As I read the blog by Joel Rosenberg about the leader of Israel having Bible studies in his home, I could not help but think that this could be the beginning of truth coming back to this world.

The United States of America began as a very Christian nation with more than religious freedom. This country was a light on a hill to shine forth the truth of Christ to this world. Our leaders stood up for the truth in many ways. Now, we see that not only has this foundation of truth eroded, it is crumbling and almost non-existent. America needs Jesus as much or more than any other country in the world. Israel, on the other hand, was founded as a pretty secular country, even though they had the minority parties that were calling for people to follow the laws of the Old Testament. However, Zechariah 8:8 tells us that one day the Lord will bring the Jews back to Jerusalem to be His people "in truth and righteousness." Even now the voice of the leaders of Israel is one of the few sane voices in this world in confronting the problems of this world. One day, as they see what God is doing, and they continue to study the Bible, they will turn to Christ, as the Messiah, and they will fully embrace the Truth. Jesus will return to reign in Jerusalem, and it will be "The City Of Truth." No one knows when this will happen, but we could be seeing this transition taking place before our eyes. Let us as believers, stand up for the Truth and be ready for our Lord Jesus to come back to this crazy world. Remember, for now we are the salt and the light.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Zechariah 10-13.
