From This Day I Will Bless You

God showed me a wonderful, encouraging verse this morning from Haggai 2:19. God's people had not been doing the work on the Temple as God had directed them, so the Prophet Haggai was sent by the Lord to admonish them to get to work. When he delivered God's message, the people obeyed the Lord. It was then that God gave them the promise of Haggai 2:19, "from this day I will bless you." I think this should be encouraging for all of us.

As the verse says the seeds may still be in the barn, and the fruit trees may not have yielded fruit yet, but if we are doing God's will faithfully, He will send the fruit. He will bless us from this day. We can do the work of the Lord with the joyful assurance of the fruit that is to come.

Today, believers are not to be busy about building a "temple" of bricks, but of souls. The church is people. Therefore, the work is reaching people for Christ. We must not forget this work and take care of our own families and households like the people of Haggai's day were doing. We must find the time and energy to do both. That is God's way, and when we do things His way, He will bless us. Let's decide to do God's will in building His church right now, so we can know this promise in our lives, "From this day I will bless you."

Tomorrow, I intend to read Zechariah 1-3.
