Do Not Be Afraid

So many people are paralyzed by fear, especially fear of powerful people like kings and those in authority. God does not want us to live in fear, but to realize that He is with us to save us and deliver, when we are trusting Him as Lord of all and Lord of our lives.(Jeremiah 42:11) The Jewish people left in Judah were afraid of the king of Babylon, because he had destroyed Jerusalem and carried off many of the people into exile. However, God was in control, and He promised to deliver those who were left, if they would obey Him and stay in the land. In fear, they decided to go to Egypt in direct rebellion to God's word to them. It was a terrible choice, driven by fear.

What choices do you make that are driven by some fear of man or situations of this world and not fear of the Lord? Let's make sure and remember that we are not to fear anyone or anything, except the Lord. The fear of the Lord means that we will obey Him, and we will trust Him to overcome whatever we face. The Jewish people made the wrong choice, but I pray that we will allow the Lord to fight for us and deliver us.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Jeremiah 46-48.
