God's Goodness to Answer Prayers
I know the Bible says a lot about prayer and how God answers our prayers. However, there are a few verses that rise to the top in importance, and Jeremiah 33:3 is one of them. I am sure it is familiar to most of us, but do we really grasp what God told Jeremiah to tell us? Let's see about that.
There is prayer, and then, there is a prayer that calls out to God for His answer, not our desires. That is the prayer God answers. Prayer is much more about us finding God's will, than getting our will done. In fact, when we pray in faith, it is God's way of showing us His power and grace. It is God's way of revealing Himself to us. God told Jeremiah that when we call to Him, He will answer and show us great and mighty things. These things may not be the things we had in mind, but He is sovereign God. He can and will do what He knows is best. These things He will show us are things we do not know in some way. That is a clear sign that His way is not our way. Sometimes, He will show us something we must confess or repent of, before He will even hear our prayer, but once we come to Him with a clean heart and faith, He will show us those great and mighty things.
Now, the question is this, "Do we really pray in this manner?" Do we call out to God for His will and expect to see great and mighty things, as well as learning something we do not know? It is a heart attitude and a mind-set on our part. It is letting God be God in our lives.
We are having a "Relationship Revival" with Evangelist Steve Franz, September 21-24, 2014. What if each member of NHBC called out to God for Him to send revival to our church and to help us reach the people with whom we have relationships who need the Lord? What would we do, and what would God do? I believe He wants us to find out. If you are a member of another church, I urge you to pray in this way for your church, because all of our churches need to see the great and mighty works of God, which we do not know yet.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Jeremiah 35-37.
