Drifting Away from the Lord

Solomon started out well in his life, because he trusted the Lord and followed His commands. However, his life ended in a tragic way, because God was very disappointed in him. He went after idols, so that he was no longer fully loyal to the Lord.(I Kings 11:4) This happened because his wives helped to turn his heart from the Lord gradually. It was a slow drift, but it destroyed his life and legacy. We must not let this happen to us for any reason.

Compromise will kill us spiritually. If we allow a little bit of bad stuff to come in, it will grow to be more and more. Satan is good at distracting us through family members, friends, or other activities. It is not a huge change, at first, but in the end we have left our first Lord for the Lord. Please, determine not to let that happen to you. Stay anchored in the Lord by keeping His Word 100%. Do not be a people-pleaser. Remember, our love for the Lord must be so much stronger than our love for our family and others that it seems that we hate our family members in comparison. After all, He is Lord, and He deserves and demands our total loyalty to Him.

Tomorrow, I intend to read I Kings 13-16.
